Some mid-winter cheer

The past few days in Chicago have either been snowy and frigid or dreary and soggy. And apparently the weather events of today will encompass all four of these lovely descriptors.

So last weekend I decided to take some advice from Matchbook and paint my nails pink for some mid-winter cheer. Check out the picture above – pretty cheery right?

Other cheer-inducing aspects of that picture (taken on Sunday night) include my Golden Globes viewing drink-of-choice: a delicious vodka tonic (keep in mind that I did not have to work the next day).

The biggest snoozer

Someone’s been enjoying this lazy three-day weekend.

Treats and snoozin’, snoozin’ and treats… (love Marcel!)

And on top of his day job of being The Cutest Dog in the World, Gatsby has also been moonlighting as The Cutest iPad Stand in the World. He’s a true professional.

P.S. Carlie Crash has a new look! You like? I’m trying to clean things up a bit around here. If you’re not on the actual site right now, come check it out and let me know what you think! (The header is a picture of my feet that I took while eating lunch outside last fall. I’m aware that this behavior is abnormal, but hey – it paid off!)

Which watch?

I have a Nordstrom gift card burning a hole in my wallet, and I’ve decided to use it to buy the better part of a Stella watch by Fossil. I’ve narrowed it down to the two options above.

My heart says, “Rose gold! Get the rose gold one! It’s pretty and the color looks better against your pale white/pinkish skin, you Anglo freak!”

But my head says, “Gold! Get the gold one! Gold is more classic and timeless. This rose gold business might just be a fleeting trend! Plus most of your jewelry is gold! And your skin tone does not make you a freak.”

Thanks, head.

But seriously, which one should I get? If you’re reading this, have the decency to comment and help a girl out, would you?

Planning ahead

The Jason Wu for Target collection comes out on February 5th. I just set a reminder for myself on my Google calendar. Because look how cute!!!

I’m pretty sure I have to have that navy and white clutch. And the white dress with the black trim at the bottom. And also everything else.

The collection will supposedly be available at Target until March 6, but I suggest getting in on this action early! Remember Missoni?

All images from Tom & Lorenzo.

Fashion + film = fun

While scanning through my Google Reader last night, I came across a post about ELLE Magazine’s horror movie photo shoot starring the women of Glee and American Horror Story.

Basically, ELLE recreated stills from classic scary movies, none of which I’ve ever seen because I’m the type of person who occasionally hides behind a pillow while watching the Halloween episodes of half-hour sitcoms. Yep.

Anyway, I thought it was cool how the fabulous and opinionated gays over at Tom & Lorenzo posted the photos along with the original movie stills so you can compare.

I think Dianna Agron’s 50 ft .Woman is my favorite. You can see the full post with the rest of the photos here, starring other Glee actresses like Heather Morris and Jayma Mays.

There are also photos of actresses from American Horror Story, but I have no idea who those people are because shows like that are made to destroy people like me. The only thing I could possibly get out of watching something like that is a nice diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Slap #2

Kids, on Saturday night, Will spotted Marshall from How I Met Your Mother (aka Jason Segel) exiting a Bentley with a small entourage, just a couple blocks from our apartment. In honor of this legen…(wait for it)…dary! celebrity sighting, I’d like to share with you one of my favorite Marshall moments.
